Utilising technology offerings to reduce client printing costs

Using the right technologies can help unlock cost saving strategies that can save your practice thousands annually without affecting your service, says TA Triumph-Adler

With recent studies suggesting that legal professionals are overwhelmed by information, it can become difficult for practices to determine which technologies will help their business run more smoothly. Research conducted by Wolters Kluwer suggests that only 46% of practitioners can fully leverage the technologies available to them.

As experts within the managed print industry, TA Triumph-Adler understand that the plethora of software and solutions available in the marketplace can make it extremely difficult to decipher which tools will improve your workflows and reduce costs.

Decision-makers within practices can become overwhelmed with options and many end up sticking with the tools they are already using because of the lack of clarity and support.

That is why TA Triumph-Adler developed an innovative way of billing for toner usage, TA Triumph-Adler Tiered Billing. Where most suppliers charge for toner usage based on whether the print is printed in mono (black and white) or colour — setting a standard price for colour usage regardless of the amount of colour toner used on that sheet.

TA Triumph-Adler have the technology to take a different approach to colour toner billing, allowing us to track the percentage of colour toner used on each sheet of paper, and charge based on the level of colour coverage. This puts an end to paying for a full page of colour regardless of how much colour toner is used on the sheet. These savings on colour toner costs can be passed onto clients, helping practices remain competitive.

Think of the types of documents usually printed for customers or internal use — many of those pages will have a little bit of colour, usually a logo and a bit of colour in the footer details. Most manufacturers would bill for a whole page of colour printing despite the have only using around 3% of colour toner for that page.

TA Triumph-Adler don’t agree that you should be charged the same amount for using 3% of toner on a sheet as you are charged for using 40% colour toner on a sheet.

That is why they developed the fairer three-tiered billing, where any prints that use up to 5% colour toner are charged at the lowest colour tier, the next tier is up to 10% colour, and the final tier is for all prints with 20% colour toner or higher. These toner levels are all trackable with the right devices and TA Triumph-Adler’s innovative fleet management software.

Discovering cost saving strategies like this can save your practice thousands annually without affecting your service. This is just one example with visible cost reductions, but there are many ways that process can be improved using the right technologies.

While investing in new technologies can feel counterintuitive when trying to save money, practices need to consider the longer term cost savings that come with improving workflows and inefficiencies.

Whether it is reducing the number of accidental prints, tracking which departments print the highest volumes, or making the workflows more efficient, TA Triumph-Adler have many ways of helping your practice reduce day-to-day running costs.
